Holiday Season News!

Hello Everyone!
The holidays are here and we all have a bit more time to enjoy playing games, be with our loved ones and catch up on a lot of things... so why not on Insurgency Beta 3?
We haven't brought you news about it for quite a while, so it's time to show you something: one of our new character models. We're currently in the process of creating 4 totally new character models for each team. They are being created with customization in mind, so that they can use a variety of accessories. The team of artists behind this task are CrazyMatt and Guntharf, from SkyMonkey Studios.
We are sure that you will be as happy as we are with the results of their work - so we have decided to release a special Insurgency Beta 3 USMC Model Desktop Background and some additional renders. To complete the holiday's media release, we have also included a short video showcasing some of the improved and new player sounds for 2.x (released with the previous update) and a preliminary image of the new SKS model (by Pete). The behavior of this weapon is also being redone for Beta 3.
We would also like to congratulate some of our developers for their recent appointments: 2DChris, Minotauro, Moroes and Bluestrike have all been hired by different videogame studios and will now start (or develop further) their careers in the industry. INS has been blessed with their great talent and we are extremely happy for their success. Join us in wishing them the best of luck in their future endeavors!

And just before we all go on holidays here is a couple of other things to do: first, our modeler Macaroane is searching for references for the Zastava M70, one of the Yugoslavian members of the AK family. He needs a nice high or medium resolution side picture of this weapon. If you think you can help us finding it, here is the thread... second, have you already seen the awesome trailer of the upcoming HL2 mod NeoTokyo? If you haven't, you don't know what you are missing! - make sure you check it out: here's a link to their trailer mini-site. We're happy to see other teams attempting promising total conversions such as this! You can find more information on their official site.
Happy Holidays from the Insurgency Team!
Insurgency Map Updates!
Dr. Spielmann // Dec 8, 2008 // 41 comments
Hello Everyone!
In the following days your installation of Insurgency 2.x will be automatically updated through Steam. The patch affects mostly the maps Ins_Samawah, Ins_Sinjar and Ins_Almaden (please check the changelog below for additional details). If you don't have Insurgency: Modern Infantry Combat 2.x installed you can download it over here.
Update Changelog:
Ins_Samawah and Ins_Samawah_DayIns_Sinjar- Fixed a map bug at the Alpha spawn area
- Fixed car collisions
- A lot of small fixes and updates throughout the entire map
Ins_Almaden- Removed main street fences
- New balcony above the Pharmacy, covering the B objective
- Other minor tweaks throughout the map
- MG position underneath the second Marine spawn towards the Mosque is open
Other changes:- Some additional sound updates (secondary sound effects)
- Fixed a minor issue with vehicle LODs
The changes in Ins_Sinjar are only the first round of fixes from a larger update: a lot of work is being done, particularly on the redesigning of Objective Delta - so there's plenty of reasons to be excited about. New versions of this map will be released soon. Other interesting updates are already being tested and scheduled for release in the upcoming weeks. Among those, we have new player movement sounds (crouch, moving while prone, etc...) and several important code-related fixes. Stay tuned for further news and updates!
ESL setting up INS 5on5 Ladder!
Dr. Spielmann // Nov 24, 2008 // 11 comments
Hello Everyone!
While the entire team is busy working on the new patch for 2.x (we'll bring you some more news about its changelog soon) and making progress towards Beta 3 it has come as great news that the Electronic Sports League is setting up an Insurgency 5on5 Ladder.
We are really happy to see such initiatives taking place: ESL is decisively supporting the Insurgency competitive scene, so make sure you check their Insurgency Section if you want to find out what's cooking - there are always interesting things happening over there!
After several successful tournaments, the Insurgency ladder introduces some exciting changes:- Maps are no longer preset.
- Each team chooses one map from the map pool.
- Ladder mode: A never-ending ranking list, that can be entered or left at any time.
- The participants choose their opponents themselves and challenge them.
You can find out everything about this new tournament here (original news from the Electronic Sports League website).
We would also like to use this opportunity to inform you that we have recently added a new tab to our navigation bar: "Jobs". This section of the site includes some information about open positions at Insurgency Team. Do not hesitate to apply if you think you have something to offer. We're always looking for new talents, so feel free to drop us a line and let us know about your abilities!
